Carl Pei-led Nothing looks set to join the smartwatch party in India
  • Carl Pei-led Nothing may soon launch a smartwatch in India.
  • A smartwatch from Nothing has been spotted on the BIS certification website, which is necessary to sell a product in the country.
  • Pei had earlier purchased the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to understand the category.
Carl Pei-led Nothing is gearing up to launch its premium smartphone, the$4 on July 11 in India and globally. However, this might not be the only device that we see from the company this year. The company looks set to make an entry in a segment that is growing by the day.

Nothing is reportedly working on a smartwatch, which has been spotted for the second time. A tipster, Mukul Sharma had earlier spotted the trademark “CMF by Nothing” earlier in the year. Now, a listing for a BIS certification of the device has been $4 and this shows that the product is a smartwatch.

The device, with the model name “Nothing D395” has been spotted under the smartwatches category on the BIS certification website. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the national standards body of India and comes under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

Nothing began its journey with the launch of the$4 TWS earbuds and has since launched the Nothing Phone (1) and the ear (2). As it is unlikely to launch before the Phone (2), it will be the fourth product from the company.

Pei purchased the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to learn about smartwatches

Pei, in a tweet earlier this year had mentioned that has purchased the$4 to learn about smartwatches. However, he mentioned that it feels “kind of useless” and asked users what they used smartwatches for.

When a user asked Pei if Nothing will enter the smartwatch segment, he said “learning about the category”.

At the moment it is not known if the company will actually launch the device or is still looking into the segment.

If we do see a smartwatch from the company, it will likely retain the company’s transparent design styling, which will help it stand apart from the several options available in the market.
