Private equity firm TPG’s Rise Climate Fund along with Abu Dhabi Development Holding will make an investment worth ₹7500 crore (around $1 billion at current prices) in Tata Motors’ electric vehicles (EV) segment, it had said. Analysts believe the development will turn fortunes for the company reeling from its Jaguar Land Rover business. “Lack of competition in the near term may continue to benefit Tata’s EV volumes though progress has to be tracked,” said analysts at HSBC while raising the target price for the stock to ₹550. Tata Motors rallies 15% as TPG’s billion dollars spark a series of upgrades for the stock

Tata Motors’ stock at nearly two-month high after selling more cars than Hyundai in December

New Delhi, <keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="keywords">Tata Motors</keyword> expects the industry sales growth of electric vehicles in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> to moderate to 40-45 per cent this year with the base becoming bigger, a top company official said on Wednesday. The company, which launched Punch.ev on Wednesday, plans to introduce four more EV models this year, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd &amp; Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said. It is expecting to grow faster than the industry EV growth rate, he added. "Two years back, EVs were growing on a very low base. In the last calendar year, it had a growth of nearly 100 per cent but now the base is getting bigger. By the end of this financial year, it will be around 90,000 to 1 lakh. On this high base, I think the growth (industry) would moderate to about 40 per cent to 45 per cent," Chandra said. As for Tata Motors, he said with five EV products lined up for launch, the company expects to beat the industry growth rate. When asked about EV penetration in the overall sales of the company, he said, "Currently we are between 12 to 15 per cent. Fortunately, we are also growing in <keyword id="20088520" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ice" source="keywords">ICE</keyword> (<keyword id="20225695" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="internal-combustion-engine" source="keywords">Internal Combustion Engine</keyword>). So, the denominator keeps changing." In 2023, Tata Motors sold a total of 69,153 units of EVs. Further, he said, "In the next three years, we have taken a target of achieving 25 per cent of total sales with all the products that we are going to launch. 2024 should be around 15-17 per cent." Chandra said apart from Punch.ev, Tata Motors will launch the Curvv, Harrier EV, <keyword id="20225694" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sierra" source="keywords">Sierra</keyword> and Altroz EV this year, most of which are expected in the second half. Punch.ev has been launched with an introductory price ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh-14.49 lakh. It comes with two battery pack options - 25 kWh, offering a range of 315 km, and a 35 kWh option, which offers a range of 421 km on a single charge.

Tata Motors expects industry EV sales growth in India to moderate to 40-45% this year

Mumbai, Jan 28 () Home-grown auto major Tata Motors on Tuesday launched the electric variant of its most-selling compact sports utility vehicle Nexon in the domestic market at a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
 The company had unveiled the vehicle last December. 
 Tata Motors plans to launch four more electric vehicle (EV) models, including two SUVs, one hatchback and one sedan in the next 24 months, Tata Sons Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran announced at the launch.
 The event was also attended by Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons.
 Powered by Ziptron technology, the electric SUV for the personal segment comes with a range of 312 km on a single charge and a high voltage system, fast charging capability, extended battery life and class leading safety features. Besides, it has 35 connected car features as well.
 The Nexon EV will be available in three trim levels across 60 authorised dealerships in 22 cities, the company said at the launch.
 The company is closely working with other group companies such as Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Autocomp, Tata Motors Finance and Croma to create an e-mobility ecosystem, Tata uniEVerse, for faster adoption of EVs in the country, Tata Motors said.
 "E-mobility is an irreversible mega-trend and an imperative for addressing pollution and generating job opportunities in India," Chandrasekaran said.
 "After 16 months of strenuous effort, we are delighted to launch India's own electric SUV, the Nexon EV. This high performance, connected vehicle is uniquely suited to address the aspirations of Indian customers, and making EVs mainstream," the company's Managing Director and Chief Executive, Guenter Butschek said.
 "We are confident that this game-changing product will further reinforce our commitment towards developing sustainable and responsible mobility solutions for India," he added.
 Powered by Tata uniEVerse, consumers will have access to a suite of e-mobility offerings including charging solutions, innovative retail experiences and easy financing options, it said. 
 The automaker has partnered with Tata Power to provide end-to-end charging solutions at home, workplace and for captive and public charging.
 Similarly, to develop the component supplier ecosystem, the company is collaborating with Tata Chemicals, which is working on manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells, exploring active chemicals manufacturing and battery recycling.

Tata Motors launches Nexon EV at starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh

Mumbai, Feb 13 () Tata Motors on Thursday said it has bagged an order from Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd for supplying electric version of its sub-compact sedan Tigor, which will be deployed in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, as part of its tender with EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd). The first batch of Tata Tigor EVs (electric vehicles) were flagged off on Thursday, it said. "We are delighted to partner with Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (UGVCL) for introducing zero-emission vehicles in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. We are determined to drive adoption of electric vehicles in the country, thereby supporting the government's vision 2030," Tata Motors Electric Vehicles Business Chief Shailesh Chandra said in a release. <keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Motors" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Tata Motors" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Tata Motors">Tata Motors</keyword> on Wednesday said it has tied up with <keyword id="20243465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delta-Electronics-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Delta Electronics India" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Delta Electronics India">Delta Electronics India</keyword> and <keyword id="22863979" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Thunderplus-Solutions" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Thunderplus Solutions" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Thunderplus Solutions">Thunderplus Solutions</keyword> to set up <keyword id="20111395" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="charging-infrastructure" source="keywords">charging infrastructure</keyword> for its range of <keyword id="21658969" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-commercial-vehicles" source="keywords">electric commercial vehicles</keyword> (CVs). As part of the MoU inked between the parties, 250 new fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles would be set up across the country. Strategically located in and around over 50 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi, among others, these new charging stations will significantly increase the existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, Tata Motors said in a statement. Basis its understanding of the commercial EV movement, the commercial vehicle major will recommend optimal locations and nearest dealerships for setting up the fast-charging stations, the company said. While Delta Electronics will supply the necessary hardware, Thunderplus Solutions will install and operate them, it added. E-commerce companies, parcel and courier service providers, among other industries, are increasing the adoption of commercial EVs for last-mile deliveries. "Expanding the available charging infrastructure on high-use routes will encourage more customers to opt for electric commercial vehicles and improve vehicle uptime, resulting in higher revenues and better profitability, while contributing towards a cleaner, greener environment," Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Vice President and Business Head -- SCV &amp; PU -- Vinay Pathak said. Currently, Tata Motors sells Ace EVs to cater to various last-mile delivery requirements. The model is supported by over 150 electric vehicle service centres across the country.
