Motorola has announced a Jio Lock offer, wherein customers who opt to use a Jio SIM for a specific period within 15 days of purchasing the device will receive a cashback of ₹700. Apart from this, customers will also receive 40 cashback vouchers of ₹50, which will be applicable only on the ₹419 plan from Reliance Jio. New Delhi, Mar 23 () Reliance Jio on Monday said it will offer free broadband service to new customers and doubled data limit for all existing customers to support work from home in fight against coronavirus. The company has also doubled data limits for top-up voucher and bundle-free calling minutes to non-Jio networks in these vouchers. "To ensure that everyone stays connected while at home, Jio will provide Basic JioFiber broadband connectivity (10 Mbps), wherever it is geographically feasible, without any service charges, for this (coronavirus) period," Reliance Industries Ltd said in a statement. JioFibre broadband customers are required to pay Rs 2,500 at the time of installation. Of which, Rs 1,500 is refundable at the time of surrendering the connection. "Jio will also provide home gateway routers with a minimum refundable deposit," the company said. The company has started offering double data across its 4G data add-on vouchers which will also bundle non-Jio voice calling minutes in these vouchers at no additional costs. "As its ongoing commitment, Jio is ensuring that its mobility services are up and running at all times with the deployment of essential teams on rotation round the clock across the country," the statement said. State-owned telecom companies BSNL and MTNL took lead last week to announce free broadband plans and additional data for their customers to support work from home. PRS HRS

Jio offers free broadband for new customers, double data for existing

New Delhi, May 8 () Reliance Jio has come up with new top-up plans to support extra data usage at up to 75 per cent lower rates and also made annual recharge plans 33 per cent cheaper compared to rivals by enhancing data usage limit at 4G speed to 2 GB per day.The company has brought three new "work-from-home" top-up plans that are available at the denominations of Rs 151 (30 GB), Rs 201 (40 GB) and Rs 251 (50 GB), which supplement usage once the daily limit is exhausted, as per the company's website.With these plans, average data cost comes to about Rs 5 per GB. Under the existing top-ups, which will continue, data on Jio network costs in the range of Rs 8.5 to Rs 21 per GB. Reliance Jio has revised the price for its annual plan to Rs 2,399 and enhance the daily data limit in the new plan to 2 GB. So, despite increase in value of the 365 days validity, the annual plan is 33 per cent cheaper than rivals due to extra data offered by it. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea offer similar annual plans for Rs 2,398 and Rs 2,399 respectively, with daily data limit of 1.5 GB at 4G speed. The new plans from Jio comes at a time when companies have been pushing the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and government to legally raise data prices by up to 5-10 times to address financial stress that some companies are facing. Mobile subscribers get access to 4G data at a price as low as Rs 3.5 per GB but if the floor price is fixed as demanded by telecom operators, the mobile internet prices will rise 5-10 times from the current level.Vodafone Idea has proposed that the minimum price of data should be fixed at Rs 35 per GB and Bharti Airtel has recommended a minimum price of Rs 30 per GB for low data users. Reliance Jio wants data prices to be hiked gradually to Rs 20 per GB.In latest developments, Reliance Jio's parent firm Jio Platforms has raised Rs 60,596.37 crore in less than three weeks by selling a stake of around 13 per cent to Facebook, Silver Lake and Vista. New Delhi, June 7 () Telecom operator Reliance Jio has partnered with streaming service Disney+ Hotstar to offer its prepaid users one year complimentary subscription to Disney+ Hotstar VIP. Disney+ Hotstar VIP offers Hotstar specials, live sporting action, latest bollywood, superhero movies, among others. As per the information on Jio.com, prepaid users opting for plans starting at Rs 401 will be able to avail the Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription worth Rs 399 for one year, at no extra cost, over and above the other benefits they get in a plan. The offer can be availed by Jio prepaid customers opting for specific monthly pack, annual pack, and add on data packs. The Rs 401 monthly plan provides 90 GB data, unlimited voice calling and access to Jio apps valid for 28 days, and users recharging with this plan will also get one year subscription of Disney+ Hotstar VIP. The offer is also available on Rs 2,599 annual plan which offers 740 GB data, unlimited voice calling and access to Jio app for 365 days, as well as for those opting for combo pack of data add-on vouchers, starting at Rs 612 (12 vouchers of Rs 51). "Holding on to these upper-end customers will be pivotal for the big three to remain profitable in the coming quarters as these users generate over 60% of their revenues," a senior industry executive, who did not wish to be named, told ET.

However, slashing prices can be a double whammy for the top telecom players as they will have to give away a major part of the revenues. 
 
"Any effort to match Jio's tariffs could progressively shave off nearly 40-50% of the revenue that Airtel, Vodafone and Idea typically generate from upper-tier customers, which would hit the overall ARPU and hurt both top-line and bottom-line,” an executive of a leading telco told ET. 
 
ET reported the upper-end customers on an average generate monthly ARPUs in the Rs 700-1,000 range, and that could fall sharply if the incumbent biggies are forced to reduce the price points of their heavy data packs. 
 
Rajan Mathews, director general of the Cellular Operators Association of India, told ET that incumbents would definitely come up with competing price points to hold on to their valued, high-end customers.

Bharti <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> is leaving no stone unturned to take on <keyword id="6354504" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Reliance-Jio">Reliance Jio</keyword>’s offers and has rolled out another data plan for customers. Now, Airtel is offering 10GB data for just Rs 259 all over India. 
 
Also, customers can avail a maximum of three recharges within 90 days. 
 
But, here is a catch. One GB data out of 10GB data will be instantly credited to the customer's account and the additional 9 GB data can be claimed by through the MyAirtel app. 
 
"This invitational offer has been designed for our data savvy customers who can now experience high speed broadband on Airtel's 4G network with their new devices,” said Ajai Puri, Director, Market Operations at Bharti Airtel. 
 
Initially, Airtel had launched this offer only for the buyers of Samsung Galaxy J series smartphones and later on it was rolled out in Gujarat. Now, it has been extended to all across India and is available across all brands of 4G handsets. 
 
Meanwhile, to counter Reliance Jio, Vodafone India too slashed data price for its prepaid and postpaid customers to allow 10 GB at a cost of 1 GB for new 4G smartphone users.
