Sen. Rand Paul was hospitalized on Friday after an altercation with a neighbor.

According to chief of staff Doug Staffer, the senator could take months to recover from his injuries.

Though the motive is still unknown, The Washington Post reported that one source told them Boucher's leaned left politically and was "active on social media and said some negative things about the Republican agenda."

A statement from Boucher's lawyer, however, said the altercation had nothing to do with politics and was "over a matter that most people would regard as trivial."
