The morning after two massive explosions rocked China's northeast port city of Tianjin, the magnitude of the damage has become clear.

The twin blasts on Wednesday killed at least 17 people, injured hundreds more, and left the surrounding area smoldering.

Early Thursday, the Beijing News newspaper cited fire department officials in Tianjin, who say dozens of firefighters were unaccounted for.
