Aditi Mittal

It is not expected to see a girl in the list of India’s best known stand-up comedian, and this is the exact stereotype that Aditi has successfully managed to break. After losing her job in the United States because of recession, she made a career for herself in the male-dominated Indian stand-up comedy. She has written for DNA, Grazia Men magazine, Firstpost and Financial Times. She has performed at Canvas Laugh Factory and Comedy Store Mumbai. She is also a regular at many humour festivals across the globe. You can catch her performances at her official YouTubechannel and get in touch with her here.

You must remember the audio clip that went viral a few months back, in which a guy talked about the culture of Khajuraho and how an engineer would behave with a drunken girl. The man behind this audio was Nitin Gupta (Rivaldo), who is also a chemical engineer. He is a favourite among the engineering students and mostly performs in engineering colleges. He has now done close to 200 shows. You can watch his videos on his official YouTube channel and get in touch with him here.

Kapil Sharma

The list would have, of course, been incomplete without the man himself. Let me present to you a small fact before I go on with the details. Ever since his comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapilhas started, there hasn’t been a single big-banner movie that has not been promoted there. The man sure knows the nerves of his viewers, and his show is amongst the top-rated shows on Indian television. Lately, he has been in a string of controversies, including court cases and tax evasions, but that hasn’t deterred his audience from gluing to screens when he is on air.

He started his career with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and then went on to do several seasons of Comedy Circus. Before coming to Mumbai, he did theatre in Punjab for many years. You can catch his show on Colors every Saturday and Sunday at 10 PM.
