Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Monday as telecom, power and utility stocks were sold off amid a bearish trend in global markets and profit-booking. Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, and Kotak Bank counters also hit investor sentiments. After reaching an all-time high last Friday, the BSE index fell 0.34% to settle at 63,168.30. The Nifty dropped by 0.37% to end at 18,755.45. The telecommunication, power, realty, and utility indices decreased, while the IT, teck, industrial, metal, and healthcare sectors cap the losses to some extent.
