The pilot in the F-16 ejected from the jet according to the Berkeley County Fire Department.

A witness described the collision as a "ball of fire in the air," News 2 reports.
A defense department official, speaking to ABC, confirmed that the F-16 came from Shaw Air Force Base. According to the official, the pilot of the F-16 managed to eject safely. However, the condition of both the F-16 and Cessna pilots is currently unknown.

The South Carolina Air National Guard tweeted that the F-16 was not one of theirs.
