BMW's all-electric car may be about to get a big upgrade

BMW is reportedly going to dramatically improve the range of its 2017 all-electric i3.
According to a report from Fred Lambert at Electrek, the company plans to boost the EPA-rated range from 81 miles to as much as 120 miles.
Lambert has gathered some flyers that have apparently been sent out to current BMW i car owners in the UK. These advertisements are show off how the i3 will be getting "50% more range" and will be available in the UK by early Summer.
Electrek also reports that dealers in the UK are saying that the increased range will cost $1,950 on top of the $37,496 starting price in the UK. Pricing and available information for American markets has not leaked or been released by BMW.
Even though 120 miles is a fairly decent amount of range for an electric city car, the slightly pricier range extender-equipped i3s still blow the electric-only models away with their 150 mile range. And it's also possible that that could see a range bump as well.
If you're in the market for a small, luxurious electric car like the i3, it'd probably be best to wait it out until the Summer.
That is, if 2018 is just too far out for you.
