Former L&T CEO UV Rao Passes Away

Udipi Vasudeva Rao popularly known as UV Rao, the former managing director and CEO of engineering giant “We regret to inform you that UV Rao, an Independent Director of our company has passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015. He was 85 years old. As a result, he has ceased to be a Director of the company with effect from January 24, 2015,” the company said in its statement.
Previously, Rao has served as the president of Indian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association, the apex body for industrial and electrical goods manufacturers. He was also the honorary counsel general for Denmark for Western India as well as the former chairman of Indo-Danish Business Committee.
Rao was also a part of the Capital Goods Committee of the Planning Commission. Apart from this, he was also on the Boards of TIL Limited, John Fowler India Private Limited, Dickinson Fowler Private Limited.
