Average letting fees are almost as high as rent in some parts of the UK.

LONDON - Chancellor Philip Hammond is set to announce a ban on letting fees for renters in his Autumn Statement on Wednesday.

While the news sent shares in letting agencies plummeting, the news will be welcomed by tenants, who pay an average of £337 a year for the fees.

In some areas, however, that figure is dramatically higher, and areas with some of the highest fees have been uncovered by the National Private Tenants Organisation.

The tenant pressure group studied letting fees around the cities of London, Manchester and York to find both the average and highest costs in those areas.
