Here are the biggest movers on the FTSE 100

The FTSE 100 has opened slightly higher on Tuesday morning, enjoying a boost from Bank of England Governor Mark Carney's confirmation last night that he will stay in his role until 2019.

The FTSE 100 is up 28.12 points, or 0.40%, to 6,982.34 at just before 8.10 a.m. GMT (4.10 a.m. ET). Here's how that looks:

Royal Dutch Shell is the biggest riser on the day after it beat forecasts with its third-quarter results. The oil giant announced earnings up 18% to $2.79 billion. Shares are up over 3%.

Here's how Royal Dutch Shell B shares, more commonly held and traded by those outside of the company, look at close to 8.20 a.m. GMT (4.20 a.m. ET):

Meanwhile, rival BP is one of the biggest fallers of the day so far, opening down around 1.4%, after it revised down spending for the year ahead to $16 billion. Third-quarter profit came in at $933 million, which beat forecasts but is down 48% on last year's total for the same period.

Morrisons is also down over 2% on Tuesday morning, ahead of the supermarket chain's third-quarter trading update on Thursday.
