About 40% of the respondents of the study was the Ernest Hemingways. Named for the writer who famously boasted that he could “drink hells any amount of whiskey without getting drunk,” Hemingways do not exhibit any major changes in personality when they become drunk from sober.

The second are the Mary Poppins. They fit in the “practically perfect in every way” description as depicted by the character Poppins in the 1964 movie. They get sweeter and happier with alcohol.

The third are the Nutty Professors, named for the chemically-altered academic with a second personality. They are introverts who shed their inhibitions when they drink showing a more social self.

And, lastly, there are the Mr. Hydes, who are “particularly less responsible, less intellectual, and more hostile when under the influence of alcohol.”
