Meet Indian businessman George V Nereaparambil who owns 22 apartments in Burj Khalifa. He was once a mechanic

Indian businessman George V. Nereaparambil’s story is a typical rags to riches story. The Kerala-born businessman, who owns 22 mindboggling apartments in Burj Khalifa, was once a mechanic.

Yes, it might be hard to believe but it is true. Nereaparambil has 22 apartments out of 900 in the Burj Khalifa and aspires to buy more.

Nereaparambil came to Sharjah in 1976 and soon realised the huge scope of an air conditioning business in desert region.

The mechanic-turned-businessman set up GEO Group of Companies and now is a proud owner of the empire.

When Nereaparambil was 11, he helped his father trade cash crops and used to transport materials to the market and bargain. Not only he learnt the ropes of trade at an early age, he also learnt how to make use to leftover cotton seeds.

With all the learnings in the business, he came to Sharjah and now owns the costliest properties in the world. His apartments have decor made of gold, covering the walls, floors and ceilings.

Nereaparambil’s impressive purchase came after a friend teased him.

"A relative of mine jokingly told me: See this Burj Khalifa, you cannot enter it."

Well, Nereaparambil entered the Burj Khalifa and how.

After seeing an advertisement in a newspaper about an apartment for rent in the building, the Kerala-born businessman got straight on the phone.

"That very same day, I rented the apartment, and the next day I was living in it. That was in 2010."

Now that he has made a name for himself, he wants to give back to the society by building a canal from Trivandrum to Kasarakod.

"This canal will give back to nature. Whatever water will come from the forest nearby, we will produce electricity from it. We will also use the water to cultivate vegetables, and I plan to section off a small part of it so that fisherman can cultivate fish. We will also use the slurry as fertiliser. My hobby is to buy land and I want to make use of every single part of that canal,” he said.
