In order to promote m-governance (mobile-governance), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the information technology professionals to find out ways to provide maximum possible services through mobile phones.

"I urge you to explore ways to provide as many services as possible through mobiles. Let us bring the world into our mobile phones," Modi tweeted at the 18th national conference on e-governance. His series of tweets were shown live on a big screen.

The Prime Minister asserted that e-governance is an important part of the 'Digital India' campaign. He also emphasised on smart utilisation of modern technology for the country’s development.

"While we look at e-governance, let us think about 'mobile first' and thus give importance to m-governance (mobile governance)," said Modi.

“The Centre is committed to realising the dream of Digital India, with a vision to make India a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy," he added in another tweet.
