Possible pipe-bombing New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal, one reported detained
Police are reportedly investigating a possible pipe bomb explosion at Port Authority Bus Terminal, according to ABC7 NY.
New York City's official emergency notification channel reported police activity at Port Authority, a massive transit hub in Midtown Manhattan, on Monday morning.
Journalists on Twitter reported that a man had been taken into custody. ABC reportes the explosin happened in a confined passageway at the terminal between 42nd street and 8th avenue.
Immediately after reports of an explosion surfaced, pictures of a police bomb-squad truck that reportedly arrived at the scene popped up on social media.
Police told AM New Yorker that the building was being evacuated, and that the blast took place around 7:25 a.m. ET.
The streets around the terminal have been closed and the A, C, and E subway lines have reportedly been evacuated.
