A few days back, we told you about a battle of titans that Bollywood box office was to see on Eid 2016. Two of India’s biggest superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, were ready to release their upcoming movies, Raees and Sultan, respectively, on the same day.

However, in the latest development that is being heard, Salman Khan has shifted the release of Sultan to Diwali 2016, thereby avoiding what could have been the biggest possible clash at the box office.

Shah Rukh and Salman, who were once very close friends and has starred together in Karan Arjun, a cult-classic, had turned foes after things went sour between them a few years back. However, it was at Salman’s sister Arpita’s wedding that Shah Rukh broke the ice and went to his old friend’s abode to bless Arpita, whom he later addressed as his own little sister.

Ever since then, there have been several instances of these two Khans showing off their freshly renewed friendship to the world. While Shah Rukh released the first look of Salman’s movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan on Twitter, Salman was also seen praising SRK at some events.

When asked about the possible clash on the ticket counters, SRK had said that they both were now friends and it would be profitable for both of them to come together. However, looking at the possible losses that both of them could actually face because of divided audience, Salman decided to convince his producers to shift the release date to Diwali.

However, there is more to it than what meets the eye. This was not the first time that their movies were to release together. In 2006 as well, we saw a similar clash when Salman’s Jaan-e-mann released with Shah Rukh’s Don, and the box office clearly ruled in the favor of the latter, making the former a forgettable unfortunate incident.

Even though Salman has reinvented himself well in all these years and now enjoys a guaranteed success with every release, it still isn’t sure whether both of them can stand a clash with each other or not. This could also be the reason that the producers have shifted to call off this clash.

Another thing that needs to be noticed is that this is the first time that Shah Rukh and Salman would be releasing their movies on Eid and Diwali, because up until now, it’s always worked the other way around. While Salman releases his movies on Eid, Shah Rukh prefers to choose Diwali to release his movies and tap the market.

Well, looks like 2016 would be a great year to watch out both the Khans, given the developments that both these movies are showing every now and then.
