Wait for Honda Cars India ’s third-generation premium hatchback is over as the carmaker is going to launch ‘Jazz ’ in the country on July 8.
The hatchback will give competition toHyundai i20, which has been selling around 10,000 units a month. Jazz will come with both diesel and petrol engine options and carry the same 1.5 litre i-DTEC and 1.2 litre i-VTEC engines that come fitted in Honda Amaze.
Economic Times reported that the carmaker had already started adjusting production schedule to accommodate the model. ETAuto had reported in December that the carmaker would bring back the Jazz in July.
"Stockyard in Greater Noida having a capacity of 5,500 units is packed with Mobilio and Amaze as there is a slide in demand for these two models ... Some of these cars have also been shifted to Tapukara plant," a company source told ETAuto. The source added at least 7,000-8,000 units of the two car models were at both the plants.
Senior Vice-President for Sales and Marketing at Honda Cars India, Jnaneswar Sen said that it was an exercise to create production capacity for the upcoming model Jazz and also compensate summer production shutdown coming up this month.
