Bharti Enterprises' founder and chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal is the new chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Terry McGraw, Chairman Emeritus of S&P Global, who served as the chairman until now, will now be serving as the honorary chairman, while John Denton, Partner and CEO of Corrs Chambers Westgarth, will take over from Mittal as the organisation's first vice-chair.

ICC, world's largest business organisation, has over 6.5 million members in over 130 countries and Mittal has been selected as its 51st chairman, being only the third Indian to hold the position.

Mittal has earlier been a part of the Prime Minister of India's Council on Trade and Industry.

He also stressed on the need to restore trade and investment as a driver of growth and jobs, especially in developing economies that were affected by the slowdown in raw materials and agricultural commodities markets.
