Tata Motors, Indian Oil amongst 7 Indian companies in the Fortune Global 500 list The Fortune Global 500 list is out and this time, seven Indian companies have made their way to the list. These include Indian oil, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, State Bank of India (SBI), Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Oil and Natural Gas (ONGC); they have been ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years.

The topper on the list was Walmart, as reported by Economic Times.

With revenues of about $74 billion, Indian Oil, a Delhi-based Petroleum refining company, has secured 119th place on the list. Reliance Industries has earned 158th place; Tata Motors was ranked 254th; State Bank of India was at 260th position; Bharat Petroleum gained 280th rank, Hindustan Petroleum with revenues of $35 billion was at 327th position and lastly, ONGC, with revenues of $26 billion, remained on 449th place.

In 2014, the world's 500 largest companies generated $31.2 trillion in revenues and $1.7 trillion in profits. This year's Fortune Global 500 employ 65 million people from 36 countries across the globe.

The US is home to 128 of the 500 global companies, including Apple (15), JP Morgan Chase (61), IBM (82), Microsoft (95), Google (124), Pepsi (141), Intel (182) and Goldman Sachs (278).

On the other hand, China remained close to 100 companies on the list, including Bank of China (45), China Railway Engineering (71) and China Development Bank (87).

While Indian companies like Tata Motors and SBI gained a better place in the list, Indian Oil, Reliance, Bharat Petroleum and Oil and Natural Gas went down in the rankings as compared to what they scored last year.

The companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years ended on or before March 31, 2015. Revenue figures include consolidated subsidiaries and reported revenues from discontinued operations, but exclude excise taxes.
