The White House is officially on Snapchat

Joshua Miller, the White House's director of product management, announced the new account of WhiteHouse in a blog post, saying it was another way for people to engage with their government.
"Tomorrow, our Official Story will take you behind the scenes of the White House's State of the Union preparations, with footage and angles you won't find anywhere else," Miller wrote.
The Obama administration has been rather adept at social media, having established a large following on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Even Obama himself is the first (and so far only) president to take part in a Reddit AmA (ask me anything).
With the establishment of a presence on Snapchat, the White House is moving into a much younger demographic. Nearly two-thirds of Snapchat's user base is made up of millennials, a statistic that Miller mentions in his blog post.
"The White House is joining Snapchat to engage this broad cross-section of the population in new and creative ways," he wrote.
We'll see how the presidential snaps turn out in the future. While content posted to Snapchat typically disappears after 24 hours, an official told BuzzFeed News the White House account would comply with government archiving requirements. So if there's ever a presidential Snapchat selfie, it will live on forever.
The account's first snap ever is a video from inside the Oval Office.
