Amtrak police used a TASER to subdue a man inside Penn Station on Friday evening, WABC reported.

Two people were reportedly taken into custody for disobeying orders, but only one had a TASER used against him, the television station said.

The sound of the device reportedly sparked panic and caused a stampede inside the transit hub, prompting people to ditch their belongings and escape the scene.

"Leave it, leave it," said a bystander amid a backdrop of luggage and shoes strewn across the floor.

Videos showed one of the men being arrested.

"I have freedom of speech," one of them appeared to say, as he was being detained on the floor.

The ensuing chaos and reports of possible gunfire quickly spread on social media, prompting law-enforcement officials to notify the public.
