A Walk-Off Single Sent The Kansas City Royals To The Playoffs After 12 Innings

The Kansas City Royals and Oakland A's competed in a 12-inning, instant-classic Tuesday night. After falling behind 7-3 through six innings, due to some horrible management from manager Ned Yost, the Royals rallied to go to extra innings.
They fell behind again in extras, 7-8, heading into the bottom of the 12th. The Royals' Eric Hosmer hit a triple in the final inning, and then scored on an infield single from Christian Colon to tie the game. One batter later, Colon stole second base in the midst of Salvador Perez's at-bat, setting up Perez for heroics.

This is the Royals' first postseason appearance since 1985. They'll take on the Los Angeles Angles in the ALDS, beginning Thursday night.
