It was under Gupta's leadership that Renault increased its LCV volumes by half in the past three years, probably the reason behind his selection for the crucial role.

In his new role, he would focus on strengthening the existing stronghold areas of each of the brands in the alliance with a more integrated approach, before coming to the India and China markets.
