Cement companies have firmed up major gains today!

The Cement sector was among the top gainers in the futures and options segment as traders lapped up the stocks ahead of their earnings. Four out of five cement stocks in the F&O space posted strong gains with a rise in open interest, signifying a build up in long positions.

The lone loser was India Cements Futures which dipped 1.5 percent to 89.65 rupees coupled with a 3.5 percent drop in Open Interest.

Meanwhile, Futures Of UltraTech Cement rose 2 percent at 3,212 rupees. Futures of Grasim added 1.5 percent at 3,694.50 rupees. Ambuja Cement Futures rose 1.5 percent at 254.40 rupees and ACC Futures were up 1.2 percent at `1,490 rupees. Overall, Open Interest rose 3.2 percent for the entire sector on Wednesday.

Within the wider cement space, 23 companies gained whereas 18 stocks lost ground on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
