Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called President Donald Trump's creation of an immigration crime office, Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement, "ridiculous" on Wednesday.

The New York Democrat told CBS' "This Morning" that the US should "go after all criminals."

"The overwhelming majority of immigrants are law abiding, they want to be part of the American dream, and most Americans agree with that," Schumer said. "So to put an office like this out there shows how anti-immigrant this president is."

Schumer continued: "Of course we want to go after the criminals. We want to go after all criminals, no matter who they are."

Trump announced the new immigrant crime office during a major address to Congress on Tuesday night.

"I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to create an office to serve American victims," Trump said. "The office is called VOICE - Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement. We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media, and silenced by special interests."
