There is an interesting trend building with people buying more hybrid cars

The demand for hybrid cars is on a rise in the country, as fossil fuels have more or less formed a negative image in the minds of citizens aware of its environments hazards.

Hybrid automobiles are becoming popular since they carry a non-conventional propulsion system of an electric motor and engines that runs on conventional fuel.

However, there could be more than just people’s awareness about population. Supreme Court has imposed a ban on the registration of large diesel vehicles in NCR, and the odd-even vehicle rationing system is all set for a comeback in Delhi, two factors which could be majr driving factors in the rise of hybrid cars sale.

Toyota Motor's Camry Hybrid has seen its sales going up from more than 50% in the NCR in the past three months, as per a senior company executive. Similarly, Ciaz and the Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki’s mild-hybrid technology cars have also seen a rise in demand.

Keeping the demand in mind, Toyota is also launching Prius in India in mid-2016, whereas Honda Accord Hybrid will hit the roads around the festival season. Hyundai and Volkswagen have also displayed hybrid versions of Sonata and Passat, respectively, at the Delhi Auto Expo, even as Sonata hybrid might not be seen on roads anytime soon.
