Digital data is helping shape the jet engines of the future

Today, commercial jet engines look very much the same. But in the future, aviation manufacturers like GE will have the capability to customize engines for different climates, temperatures, and flight paths with the help of digital technology.
Tomas Kellner, managing editor of GE Reports, spoke to GE Aviation's Rick Kennedy at this year's Farnborough Airshow in the UK about the different ways digital technology will impact the jet engines of the future - from being able to know how they'll react in different climates to predicting maintenence issues well in advance.
