The structure built was 22-feet tall and was made using at least 57,000 plastic cups. It is on display at Thyagraj stadium in the national capital.
21 students from various Delhi University colleges like Sri Venkateshwara , Keshav Mahavidyalaya and Shaheed Bhagat Singh were a part of this team, and it was led by Kushagra Tayal, a student of Hansraj College.

This was Kushagra’s fourth attempt at breaking into the Guinness book after failing at the longest drum marathon due to back problems, playing badminton for two days straight and building a structure out of plastic cups. Every time he failed, he wanted to try to break a new record.

For the pyramid, he along with 20 others began work last Wednesday. The pyramid fell apart many times, but that did not shake their determination.

The Guinness officials present at the venue finally confirmed that Tayal and his friends were the new record holders, as they successfully put the last cup on the top of the pyramid.

The students are the new world record holders now, beating the previous record by a Mexican teenager who had built a pyramid made of about 43,000 plastic cups.
