Nearly one lakh technicians have been assigned the task of fixing a polyurethane tag in the centre of the ear lobe of the cattle with a tag applicator.

After the tag is fixed, the technician will update the number in an online database, while also providing the cattle owner with an "animal health card" which would state the UID number, owner's details, status of periodic deworming, breeding details and vaccinations of the animal.

For this project, the centre has made a fund of Rs 148 crore.
