Personalities from different fraternities along with the common man paid rich tributes to former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who passed away at a Shillong hospital on July 27.
Social media sites were flooded with quotes by Kalam and top political leaders shared their experiences and moments spent with the ‘Missile Man of India’.
Fondly known as ‘People’s President’, there have been many instances where Dr Kalam proved he was synonymous with humbles and simplicity.
Once when he was the President, he refused to sit on a chair at convocation of a university as it was larger in size than other chairs.
He had once rejected the idea of putting broken pieces of glass as it would be harmful for the birds.
Reportedly, Dr Kalam invited a roadside cobbler and owner of a very small hotel as presidential guests to Kerala's Raj Bhavan during his first visit to the state.
Here is a slideshow showing who all paid tributes to Dr Kalam and why Kalam is known as the ‘Missile Man’.
