NBA player sums up Chick-fil-A's incredible cult status in one hilarious anecdote
Every fan at Verizon Center won free chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A on Friday night during the fourth quarter of the Wizards' game against the Detroit Pistons, thanks to a running promotion.
Here's how the promotion works: If an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws during the fourth quarter of any home game, fans can redeem their tickets for a Chick-fil-A sandwich.
"I mean, the walls are coming down," Wizards forward Drew Gooden told The Washington Post in 2014, speaking generally about the atmosphere during opponents' fourth-quarter free-throw attempts.
When Aron Baynes went 0-for-2 from the line toward the end of Friday night's game, fans went wild.
But according to Wall, the fans' cheers weren't nearly as enthusiastic when the clock ran out on the Wizards' 98-86 victory.
"They are more excited for a free chicken sandwich than a win - that's what it looked like," Wall said Friday in a postgame interview.
