Sears Pokes Fun At Its Empty Parking Lots In This Sad TV Ad

Sears, once America's golden retailer, has been closing hundreds of stores and selling off some of its most profitable locations following 27 straight quarterly sales declines.

Now the brand is out with a TV ad that awkwardly pokes fun at the fact that no one shops there anymore, reports James Bickers on the blog Retail Customer Experience.

The ad starts out with two women, who appear to be in their 20s, pulling a car up outside a Sears department store at a shopping mall.

"Wait, the movie theater is on the other side," the passenger says.

"But Sears always has parking!" the driver responds.

The women enter the Sears and get distracted by a sign featuring the Kardashian sisters' "Kardashian Kollection" fashion line. They end up trying on clothes and missing their movie.

"The only thing more surprising than finding the hottest fashions and gifts is where you find them," a voice-over says in the commercial.

Some might say the ad hits too close to home, considering an open Sears store was cited for urban blight last month for appearing abandoned.
