As the bank holiday on August 29 gets closer, TripAdvisor has released a list of the most affordable cities in the UK to take a long weekend break.

To find the cheapest places to visit, the travel and booking site's TripIndex UK Cities - an annual study that compares the cost of typical travel expenses - looked at prices for a three-night, four-day stay in the 20 most popular cities in the country for two people.
The report includes the daily cost of staying in a four-star hotel, lunch, dinner (and the taxi fare to and from dinner), as well as the cost of visiting four attractions.
Here are the 10 cheapest cities in the country to spend the bank holiday, along with a breakdown of travel costs:
