Trump morning tweetstorm touches on trade, Democrats, and Alabama special election - but not Charlottesville

President Donald Trump seemed to try to pivot away from the weekend's violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his first tweets Monday morning.
Trump first tweeted that he was returning to Washington with "much work" to do on trade and the military.
"Heading to Washington this morning. Much work to do. Focus on trade and military. #MAGA," Trump tweeted.
The president had been on vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, during White House renovations.
Trump has faced criticism from both Democrats and Republicans for his failure over the weekend to explicitly call out white supremacists after Saturday's protest.
The president on Saturday decried the "display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides," seeming to equally condemn the counterprotesters gathered to oppose the white nationalists.
The White House issued a series of anonymous - and somewhat confusing - comments over the weekend justifying Trump's statement.
Trump did not expand on his remarks in his first tweets Monday morning, in which he also reiterated his endorsement of Sen. Luther Strange, who faces a special election in Alabama in December. The Republican primary will take place Tuesday.
"Luther Strange of the Great State of Alabama has my endorsement," Trump tweeted. "He is strong on Border & Wall, the military, tax cuts & law enforcement."
The president also returned to one of his favorite targets, the Democrats, whom he blamed for "some of the worst trade deals in World History."
"The Obstructionist Democrats have given us (or not fixed) some of the worst trade deals in World History. I am changing that fast!" Trump tweeted.
This may be a reference to NAFTA renegotiations, which begin Monday.
