Donald Trump is gaining ground in a state that many considered to be left for dead: Pennsylvania.

Three Keystone State polls published Wednesday - from Susquehanna, Monmouth University, and CNN/ORC, showed Trump trailing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 2, 4, and 4 points, respectively. They followed another recent poll from the GOP firm Remington Research that showed Trump trailing by just 2 points.

As a result, the RealClearPolitics four-way polling average - which includes Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein - has dipped to a 4.9-point lead for Clinton.

While Clinton is near her high-water mark support in the average - she currently sits at 47.3% support - Trump his his general election-high of 42.4% support in the aggregate.

This is in line with recent polling results that have shown Trump to be making a bit of a comeback nationally, highlighted by Clinton's 1.7-point lead in the national RCP head-to-head average between the candidates.

Pennsylvania - which awards a treasure trove of 20 Electoral College votes - has not voted for a Republican since George H.W. Bush in 1988. Based on current trends, Trump needs to win three of the following four states to have a shot at securing the presidency: Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina.

Trump has recently targeted Pennsylvania, holding a rally in Valley Forge on Tuesday and having top surrogates roll through the state this week.
