Another fresh restriction from RBI: Deposits of old notes above Rs 5000 can be done only once

According to a new restrictions, the deposits of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes worth more than Rs 5,000 into bank accounts can be made only once till December 30. This step has been taken by the government to keep a check on laundering of unaccounted cash using bank accounts.

"Large deposits cannot be made multiple times in bank accounts. People can deposit up to Rs 5,000 on which there is no restriction," a senior finance ministry official told The Economic Times. However there is no restriction on amount deposited in the new black money disclosure scheme - Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.
