Brandon Marshall compared the Jets' 5-11 season to sitting in a dirty diaper

The New York Jets wrapped up their 2016 season at 5-11 - another year well out of playoff contention.

No matter which way you cut it, the season was a failure: Ryan Fitzpatrick, whom the team gave $12 million over the summer, threw 12 touchdowns and turned the ball over 23 times. Backup quarterback Geno Smith tore his ACL when the team started him after benching Fitzpatrick, and third-string quarterback Bryce Petty dealt with injuries, too. Christian Hackenberg, drafted in the second round, did not once see the field.

On the other side of the ball, Darrell Revis, their veteran cornerback, may switch to safety after such a disappointing year. On Tuesday, five coaches were fired, and another retired.

All of which is to say, the season was a nightmare.

Brandon Marshall, meanwhile, had a different way to describe it.

"The best way I can describe it," the Jets veteran wide receiver said on Inside the NFL, "is having a diaper on and never changing it. And just sitting in that diaper the whole year."

The Jets have the fifth pick in the 2017 Draft.
