Funding and mentorship are major concerns for female entrepreneurs. But if you're based in one of the top US states for women to access funding and network with fellow business owners, you may have an advantage in growing your company.

Business Insider recently published a list of the 10 best states in America for female entrepreneurs. FitSmallBusiness assessed all 50 US states based on economic opportunity, number of companies started by women, access to funding, cost of living, and the state's initiatives in equality and women's health issues.

Colorado ranked the highest overall for its economic advantages and California ranked second, in part for the amount of startups and venture capital in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. Washington, New York, and Texas followed them in the top five, respectively.
