Congress fields Indian boxer Vijender Singh from South Delhi seat

The congress party has decided to field Indian boxer Vijender Singh from South Delhi seat for the lok sabha elections to be held in Delhi on 12th May. Congress announced names of 6 other candidates earlier today with the veteran Sheila Dikshit fighting from the North East Delhi seat, Ajay Maken from New Delhi seat, JP Aggarwal from Chandni Chowk, Arvinder Singh lovely from East Delhi, Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi and Rajesh Lilothia from North West Delhi (SC).

Vijender Singh is an Indian boxer. He had won the bronze medal in Beijing olympics in 2008. Vijender Singh, born on 29th October 1985, is the current WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Champion. He won the bronze medal in 2006 Asian games.

Vijender Singh has also been awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna - India's highest sporting honour and Padma Shri -- the fourth highest civilian honour.
