Delhi Metro Revives Rs 100 Recharge At Counters

Owing to several requests and complaints, the officials at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation have revived the minimum recharge amount of Rs 100 at the counters. It is the third change to be induced in four months. In May this year, the minimum recharge amount was increased to Rs 200 from Rs 100. In July, DMRC reverted the decision, but only for recharges at Token Vending Machines (TVMs). The 83 metro stations have around 170 TVMs, which was the reason behind the July decision. However, to use these TVMs, you need to be tech savvy. This seems to be a challenge as the Delhi Metro has commuters from all sections of society. Thinking about the technically challenged section of commuters, the decision has been reverted altogether and the authorities would soon announce the decision. Almost 70 per cent of Delhi Metro commuters use smart cards, getting 10 percent discount and saving time by not standing in recharge queues, and this would come as a welcomed change, or rather a reversal.
