The courtroom sketches from former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn's plea hearing have been released.

Flynn's hearing took place in a federal courthouse in Washington, DC on Friday morning, and the former adviser to President Donald Trump pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI about his contacts with former Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in December 2016.

In a statement after the hearing, Flynn said he regrets his dishonesty to FBI investigators.

I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right," Flynn said. "My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel's Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country. I accept full responsibility for my actions."

As Flynn walked out of the courthouse after his guilty plea, hecklers outside the building chanted "Lock him up!" in an apparent nod to Flynn leading similar chants against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.
