At the top of the hour, we'll get a fresh idea of how consumers feel about the economy when the Conference Board releases the consumer confidence index.

According to Bloomberg, economists estimate that the index fell to 100.0 in July from 101.4 the prior month.

In a preview of the economic data this week, Nomura economists put out a forecast below consensus and wrote: "Consumer confidence was back on track in June after slowing in the prior two months. An early read of the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index for July showed a decline from June's level as negative headlines from abroad seemed to weigh on consumer sentiment. Taking this into consideration, we estimate the Conference Board's consumer confidence index fell by 3.4 pts to 98.0 in July. Continued elevated levels of consumer sentiment could bode well for consumer activity in coming months, which has been shaky so far this year."

We'll be back with the details when they cross.
