JPMorgan is set to announce first quarter results around 6.45 a.m on April 13, and kick off bank earnings season in the process.

JPMorgan will be the first to announce results, with Citigroup and Wells Fargo following on later on Thursday.

In announcing results first, JPMorgan will set the scene for the rest of Wall Street. The US bank said at its investor day in late February that total trading revenues were expected to "increase modestly" year over year, leading some analysts to lower their trading estimates for the bank.

Analysts expect earnings per share of $1.517, according to Bloomberg.
