I took to social media out of curiosity: PM Modi tells Zuckerberg at FB Townhall

After interacting with Silicon Valley's top tech CEOs during his two-day visit to the Silicon Valley, PM Narendra Modi is taking questions from some of FB's 1.5 billion users at his debut Facebook Townhall Interaction with Mark Zuckerberg.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the interaction by speaking of his aspirations and saying, "India is an 8 billion dollar economy, I want to make it a trillion dollar economy."

The audience responded in loud cheers to this.

"Tourism has huge potential in India. In the last one and a half years, the view that people have of India... generally people are very proud. It is remarkable how the perception of India has changed so quickly," he added.

Mark Zuckerberg then posed a question in front of Modi. He asks Modi what did he think was the potential of social media when he first started using it?

When I took to social media, I did not think I would become the Prime Minister and hence think about how it could be used for governance," PM Modi answered.

"I took to social media out of curiosity," PM Modi added

He goes on to admit the advantages of social media and said,, "I did not have the fortune of much education, but social media helped me gain knowledge. It broadened my horizon."
