The IAF is getting its swag on!

Indian Armed Forces is slowly, but steadily getting equipped with weaponry for covert operations.

The Special Forces of the IAF is getting Israeli snipers, assault rifles and European underwater open-circuit diving equipment too.

Not only this, the latest to its warfare is the spy drones, which have been bought for Rs 27 crore contract. Sixty five micro UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) or spy drones have been acquired for IAF's Garud Commando Force.

For Indian Navy, construction of two "midget submarines" or "chariots" is already underway at the cost of Rs 2,017 crore.
The Garuds and the Marcos are equally geared up for covert operations.

The Garuds are also trained to destroy enemy assets like radars and aircraft as well as "lasing" high-value targets for friendly fighters, and also rescuing pilots who eject behind enemy lines.

The new drones will have a range of over five kilometre and will be used for surveillance around vital airbases, counter-terrorism and covert operations.

Meanwhile, the unmanned combat aerial vehicles are still a distant dream. The UCAVs can fire missiles on enemy targets before returning to re-arm for further missions.
