India featured at sixth spot in global research output in 2013

HRD Minister Smriti Irani said India was sixth in the number of total annual research papers published and contributed 4.36% of the global output in 2013.

As per Department of Science and Technology, India was third among all countries when it came to scientific publications in nano science and technology.

Replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Irani said Thomson Reuters predicted that "India's research productivity will be on par with most G8 nations within seven to eight years".
