Infosys aims to become the big boy of the global IT industry

Aug 19, 2015, 17:38 IST
“Becoming a global leader doesn’t happen without effort.” Perhaps this is what has motivated the top leadership at Infosys to not only restore the company’s IT bellwether status, but to come up with innovative strategies to take on the world as the global IT leader.

The man who is striving hard to turn the company’s fortune around is none other than Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka. In an interview to ET Now, R Seshasayee, chairman, Infosys, said that Sikka has the board's mandate to restore the company to its bellwether status.

Seshasayee further added that Sikka has done a commendable job to keep the company’s focus firmly on business.

Infosys’ hard work was quite evident in the first quarter of fiscal year 201-16 itself. During this period, the company registered strong revenue growth and an unexpected bump-up in annual guidance. As a result, this raised hopes that Sikka's 'renew and new' strategy might have started to pay off. The Bengaluru-headquartered company further trumped larger rival Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in quarterly revenue growth for the first time since last two years.

“The vision of Infosys, as enunciated by its founders, is to be the most respected company. The vision holds that you will get respect only when you are a leader. That is precisely what our goal is,” said Seshasayee told ET Now.
