Infosys has reported a net profit of Rs 3,096 crore in the July-September quarter of FY2014-15, surpassing Street expectations. The company's board has granted an interim dividend of Rs 30 per share and a bonus issue of one equity share for every equity share held.

This is the first quarter result since Vishal Sikka took over as Infosys CEO on August 1.

Infosys’ shares traded 5.5% higher at Rs 3,846. The IT company was also the top gainer on the 50-share Nifty index. The stocks of other IT companies also jumped because of the positive sentiments. Wipro and HCL traded 1% and 0.9% higher, respectively.

Sikka is expected to outline the company's strategy at a press conference today.
