You no longer need to carry cash to a Mother Dairy outlet as it has launched a 'smart change card' in association with the State Bank of India.

The cards will be available at 76 outlets across Delhi NCR and 74 more such outlets will be added in the next three months. "In the coming week or so, the card will be available at our vegetable and fruit outlets and by the end of the year, the cards will be available at Mother Dairy outlets across Delhi NCR," said S Nagarajan, managing director, Mother Dairy fruit and vegetable private limited.

The card can be bought for Rs 25 and can be recharged with a maximum amount of Rs 1,000.

"The Rs 1,000 limit has been set to prevent loss in case the card is lost. No pin is needed to operate them; they can be used by anybody. We realized that due to shortage of change, shopkeepers were giving credit or sweets to consumers. The card will do away with this. It is also a convenient way to avoid handling cash," said Nagarajan.
